HISTORY
G.B. Basaltite S.r.l. is the only company quarrying the lavastone Basaltite® from its quarry at Bolsena / Latium region (Central Italy). The grey Basaltite® is quarried in the heart of Central Italy, North of the Lazio region between Tuscany and Umbria.
The land and the quarry have been the property of the Battaglini family for many generations.
The area was quarried by the current owner’s grandfather until 1951. The quarry has been inactive since then, until the current owner, Nicola Guidotti Battaglini, continued the long family tradition by reactivating the quarry in 2000 to extract this remarkable stone of great architectural and artistic value.
Nowadays, G.B. Basaltite is a modern company certificated ISO 9001 – ISO 14001 – OHSAS 18001, with business relationships on the national and international market.

Basaltite stone is nowadays extracted from the quarry located in Poggio Apparita, just beside Office and factory.
This is a hillside quarry, worked opencast, and located just below a gentle rise at an altitude of 560 meters. Access is by means of a secondary road that is hardly noticeable, an important aspect in visual impact’s terms. Basaltite® uses extremely up-dated extraction methods for a Basalt quarry.
A sectional cutter with diamond wire facilitates the cutting of the blocks from banks. G.B. Basaltite can guarantee constant quality, even for very large quantity projects, due to the large dimensions of the quarry, the compact stone structure and its uniform aspect.
GB Basaltite well equipped factory with brand new and sophisticated machines is definitely able to satisfy the most complex requests of our customers.
GB Basaltite Srl has acquired updated state of the art machinery with the technology qualified for the fabrication of special moulded, solid and artistic stone pieces that are driven by CAD-CAM systems.
Furthermore GB Basaltite plants are equipped with the most modern facilities for waste water treatment and purification, with care for the environment being a constant objective in our production processes.
